Default What are the Largest Rims for a 968?

Hey, I just purcahsed a 968 (1992 w/o m030)

I was wondering what are the largest wheels that fit on a 968. I was looking at:

Fronts: 18x8 - 50mm
Rears: 18x11 - 45mm

and

Fronts: 18x8 50mm
Rears: 18x10 65mm

Would either of these fit? would i need spacers? ive heard the max fronts without M030 was only 7.5" but i want to check here.

I run 8.5 50mm and 10 56mm with no issues. Pretty tight on my car in front with 245/45/17 Hoosiers, but appear to have a good bit of room in the rear with 275/40/17 Hoosiers.

My car is also a '92 w/o M030, but I DO have narrower springs up front FWIW and pretty far from stock spring rates, which means there is fairly limited wheel travel within the wheel wells.

I've not seen any running 11" rears. The extra 1/2" up front will give you a few more tire width options.

I have 9" X 18" (with 265/35/18 MPSC) up front and 11" X 18" (with 295/30/18 MPSC) in the rear.

Like Dave, I also have changed my springs and such...not much fun on a bumpy street.

Oh, we should probably both mention that we may have a bit more negative camber (which helps).

265 and 295... HOLY COW! That IS a lot of tire. May I ask what offsets you have to accomodate that?

geez... maybe i should rephrase my question. On a stock setup, what are the largest rims + tire sizes i can fit.

ive heard 8" 225 front, 10" 265 rear
and now.. 245 275
and wow.. 265 295

Basically i really want the 2002 Carrera Lightweights 5-spoke and am wondering what size tires i can get for them. Id love to get OEM takeoffs but I dont know if i can afford them. The Wheel Dynamics knockoffs are 23lbs and 26lbs which is a bit more than OEM but less than stock turbo twists(non hollow)

I can get the wheel dynamics ones with some decent kumhos mounted and balanced for 1650.

I am running 8.5 & 10 X 18". The tires are 245-35 & 285-30 and do so with no issues. I had stock springs at first but now have 600#F and 700# R.

Under stock conditions, the 245 front Kumho would rub a wee bit in front if I hit a dip (T11 at Gingerman) only. Rears were fine. YMMV.

Dave,

Sorry, I didn't see your question about my offsets.

Unfortunately I don't know the offsets. I purchased 2 1/2 sets from a Toronto race team. They had them for their Cup Car in the Rolex series; and there was a change of rules.

We simply pulled off a rear and a front wheel and tried them on...They fit perfectly!

I might be able to contact BBS and see how they were built...that is, what the specs were.

Is there an easier way?

I sure would be curious. If BBS is like Fikse, they provide specs by serial number.

Only 9 years later....

I've seen that alloywheelsdirect.com advertises a 10.5 wide wheel with a 60 offset TechArt will fit.
