I have replaced the CV joints on the LS axle. How do you tighten the metal "strap" on the small side of the boot?

Mike,
You replaced both axles complete, yes? If not, replace both sides.

On the clamp, did you use a rebuild kit or buy them already rebuilt? If you did it yourself, then you should just have to crimp the clamp with a pair of pliers. If you purchased them 'ready to go', try the same thing and make sure you call the place you got them from and tell them the clamp wasn't tightened correctly.

I have heard of using strong zip ties to replace the clamp.

I reused the axle and just replaced the joints on the left side but replaced both of the joints. I'm not so sure I shouldn't have replace the boot because the joints seemed fine????????? I will use a wire crimp tool or a dull pair of cutters to try to crimp the "wire" band.
