Question Replacing shift boot/****

Does anyone have experience with this:
http://www.aglausa.com/p/home.html

Eagleday has the best price I've found so far(on sale for $79.95, $9.99 UPS GND)
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/eagleday/shknandbo.html)

As I'm mechanically challenged, this seems simple (even for me to accomplish).

Hi Lewis -

About 6 mos ago, I replaced the boot on my 968 shift 6-spd lever. Long story short, I found the product to be a really good, usable product. The quality of the final product was nice - well sewn, good thread joints, looks good, cleans easily, fits well.

Long version: I first bought just the leather boot to refit my stock lever, but the cut was inaccurately made on the AGLA piece, and the seam was mis-sewn. Alan Gunn (who answers his own phone, very personable guy) got frustrated with my calls and graciously volunteered to send me a freshly re-skinned stock **** rather than have me continue to mess with product quality in my own attempt to get it right. All I had to do was send him back my original ****, for which he provided a prepaid envelope, and re-insert my original shift-pattern cap.

While the intial headache was mildly frustrating, Alan was a gentlemen and went out of his way to turn the whole thing into a good buying expreience.

I would definitely buy from him again, knowing that any hiccups will be cheerfully remedied.

Best wishes,

Buzz

He is a good guy and was understanding when his burgandy wasn't close to my chestnut brown interior.

I too had a good experience with Alan Gunn. There was a problem initially but he quickly and personally took care of it.

Thanks for the responses.
I ended up (as usual) just ordering the OEM part (boot/****/insert) from Jeff at Sunset Imports. Coming over from Germany in 4 weeks.

I can testify that the cheap ones the guy sells in all colors on ebay are CRAP!!!! Learned the "you get what you pay for" lesson, once again.

The Schaltknopf (gearshift ****) arrived today from Sunset Imports.

It's amazing what they look like brand new.....you almost forget until you see one.
FWIW, it comes with the 6sp indicator/insert installed.

If not imposing, how much did it cost you?
