Default CV Boot Drivers Side Inner Help!

I need to do the Drivers side inner CV Boot and while I'm there I might as well do the outer CV boot. After inspection I may have to do the joints as well but we'll see about that.

I found a good thread to tell me what to do once the axle is out of the car but not how to get it out

Is pulling the drivers side axle as easy as marking the shaft so I know how to put it back in and removing the triple square/cheese head bolts from both sides and it drops out.

The replacement boots I got have the metal flange on them and are clamped. But they did not come with the clamp for the small side, can I use a Zip tie or do I need to get some small cv clamps?

Someone in another thread said to wrap the exhaust with header tape to prevent some of the heat from cooking the boots again, thoughts?

Thanks,

Glen

Hey Glen,
Do you have a link to the thread you found concerning what to do once the axle is out? I need that. Thanks.

It is as easy as marking to realign and removing the cheeseheads. The cheeseheads are easy to strip, I suggest using a good tool and hammering it in before attempting to turn.

I used the waking the bolts and CV joint rebuild instructions from http://www.clarks-garage.com/ . I also marked every bearing and reassembled them exactly as they had come apart.

Thanks Bruce, I had looked through that site before but had forgotten about it.
