Rear Wheel Size help
Will the 11" wheels work for our cars?
11x18 and 8x18 Porsche 996 Turbo Twist Wheels. The front offset is 52mm and the rears are 45mm.
I know the fronts will work because I have a set of 18X8's on the front. I am just trying to determine if the 11" rears will work on a NON M030, stock suspension and ride height geometry.
I still have my Modas for sale. See them in the classifieds. Make me an offer

Three Wheelin'
Jonathan,
If you had 245 tires on the front and 275s on the rear:
The fronts would be 17mm closer to the strut and 23mm closer to the fender.
The rears would be 18mm closer to the strut and 32mm closer to the fender.
What are the actual tire widths?
If you plug the tire sizes into Dave Greimanns calculator http://www.968engineering.com/technical.html it will tell you exactly how much closer the tires will be to the inside and outside.

Thanks for your response Bruce. I have used the calculator that you sent me last week. I was hoping that someone that had actually tried this configuration would let me know what their experience was.
I think that the rears are 295/30 (?).
Hope that you have made it through the Tornadoes tonight.

i have a 285/30/18 SO-3 (and the brand of tire can make a HUGE difference - they can vary almost an inch in the same size brand to brand) on an 18x10 with a 52mm ET - my car is lowered 1.75" with currently 1.9 degrees of negative camber in the rear - i have absolutely NO issues with clearance, however, any less offset and the tires will hit the outside
a narrower brand though, like the michelin, would give me more clearance

I don't know from experience, i think it will be close but wouldn't expect it to work.
your ride height, suspension firmness, and rear negative camber will all be factors.
i run 8 X 18-- 65 mm offset on my rear with tall 275 tires, car lowered and firm for the track with 2 1/2 deg neg camber. i could probably run another 10mm outward with 55 mm just from looking.
if you have to buy it to try it....i wouldn't do it.

It won't work. Tried that exact combo on my non M030 968 and it sticks out an inch past the fender... I finally settled on some 18" hollow spoke twists with 225/40 and 265/35 and couldn't be happier (rear offset of 65)...
