Question Talking about unique options?

Has anyone seen this on other 968s - I have not? I am talking about the silver hi-light in the rear panel "PORSCHE" of the rear bumper. It is a tape in-laid in the letter recesses. I have the option list for my car and there are no unaccounted for codes - except the undecipherable interior codes. I am assuming this maybe a Dealer installed item? - but again neither I or any other local porsche friends have seen this on other 968s ???

That's an aftermarket product that until recently was available on eBay. Maybe still is....

If that is factory it's the first one I've seen or heard of.

Not a factory option - unlikely a dealer option - more likely an aftermarket or previous owner self installed.

The PO on my car had these laser cut and he installed them. Completely an aftermarket thing, as far as I know. I like them enough to leave them on.

Mine are silver to match the aftermarket 968 emblem the PO installed.

Do you think it would be possible for bodyshop to fill in the letters with paint (tedious masking job perhaps) rather than use a decal?

Thanks for the feedback. Hard to know what has been done & where, when you by a 3rd owner 12 year old from a dealer. I like the look of the silver inlaid letters on the Cobalt Blue so I'll keep them..

Have you considered having the 968 emblem painted Arctic Silver to match the 'Porsche' logo?
Eric at Bumperplugs.com (rennlist sponsor and good guy) provides that service (he painted the 'RSAmerica' badge on my midnight blue metallic RSA) and is currently painting the rear bumperettes Polar Silver for my 968 Cab.
