Default sounds like valve noise

Once in while when I start the car, there is an obvious mechanical chatter noise coming from the engine compartment. I'm guessing maybe lifters. I don't drive it, but stop and wait then restart and it goes away. The car has 67k miles and the oil level is good. Has anyone experienced this? If so, I'm interested in your experiences. Thanks

If I don't drive mine for several days, I get a noise like that. The same happened in my other 2 968's. I believe it's the lifters building up oil pressure again after the oil has drained off.

Probably the lifters...no problem.

Just run the car for a while and the oil pressure will build up to quiet things down.

Most 968's will do it if they sit too long.

Thanks All
In fact the car had been sitting between starts for almost two weeks, so it sounds identical to what you all are describing. I'll sleep better tonight!

Same here, but I find that the lifter noise goes away as soon as the engine reaches 4000 rpm.
