I'me just wondering if anyone knows why the upper portion of the 968 gained a bulge in the interior door panel? The 944's never had this. Was it for stylistic, or practical reasons?

I've been wondering since I first saw it.

Ergonomics... they had gotten complaints about the edge of the previous door panels being uncomfortable when folks would rest their arm against it, so they softened the edge to the bulge that you are referring to.

Silly, but true...
