Default radiator leak fixing / bleeding...

Hi.

A small coolant leak has appeared on my CS over the last couple of months.
Pulled everything apart a couple of weeks ago and traced it to the top
hose (on right when looking into engine bay from front of car). Thought
I'd fixed it... but now leaking again. I have a really nasty feeling the plastic
radiator union/neck that the top hose joins to may be cracked.

So my questions are:

1) If there is a small crack in the plastic rad union/pipe can this be
easily fixed? Thought there may be some watertight plastic repair
stuff that might be available?

2) I'm not totally familiar with the cooling system on this car yet (have tinkered with/rebuilt most of the other bits on the car! Smile ) Is there
a bleed screw somewhere that can be used to get rid of air after refilling
the coolant, or is this not necessary?

Thanks,
Matt.

When I had a problem on the radiator it was the return to tank line at the fitting at the radiator. This is a screw in fitting that has a nipple on the opposite end and has a washer on it. On the 951 that had this problem (same set up on the 968), the fitting cracked and leaked coolant there. What was worse is that the crack was on the threads on the other side of the washer and I had to dig out the old threads which ruined the possibility of the new part threading in.

I would suspect this part first. If you need some plastic repair, there is little better than JB weld. That is what I eventually had to use to make everything fit up right and not leak. Good luck.

The bleed screw is a 12 mm (I think) screw where the big hose comes from the back of the radiator into the little port next to the intake manifold, right by the vanity cover in the front of the engine.

Good luck,
Steve
