968 Cab w/ Backseat?
Question for you 968ers... I've done some extensive checking but haven't been able to find any really good pics to verify this or not... does the 968 Cabriolet have any rear seat, what so ever? The reason I ask is i'm looking at one here in the Bay Area, and it would be GREAT for my girlfriend since you can use the carpool lane and pay NO tolls on the bridges if you have a 2 seater car with a passenger in both seats!
Also, any particular problems I should be aware of that aren't an issue with the 944? I have an '83 944 NA so I know the general issues with 944's.. Thanks,
-Steven

RoW cars had the option of rear seats. US cars needed three point rear seatbelts, and the car was only engineered with lap belts. If you remove your parcel shelf it's easy to see the seat indentations. You can quite easily convert the rear for seating, as I did.
A quick archive search here or on 968.net will give you all the answers you need.

I believe that rear seats were an option in 92 but were not available on the 93-95 Cabs. So it is safe to say that the car is a two seater. I think it should qualify for the carpool lane / free tolls.

So what particular problems should I be looking for w/ a 968 Cab (1994)? I'm looking at one tomorrow with 90k miles. I know if i were looking at a 944 i'd be looking for: timing belt, water pump, clutch replacement, cracks in dash, motor mounts, signs of a leaky sunroof or a rusty battery, worn leather seats/interior, etc... Anything different with the 968?

92 - 968 Cab rear seats
Here you are - the PS and DS seats are out for recovering, and I took all the seatbelt hardware out to clean the seats off while they were out. Need new carpets though - they take a real beating from the UV!

the interesting thing is that I rather have the parcel shelf from the later cars! easier to keep things locked and out of sight in a rag top car. I've figured out that with simple brackets I should be able to mount the shelf I got off eBay on top of the existing seats once the belts are out.

Jim (Anchorman) on the 968.net forum installed rear seats in his US cab for his grandchildren to sit in. He has the parcel shelf mounted on top of the seats and switched back and forth. If you have any issues I am sure he would be willing to tell you more.
