Default 968 Wheel Size

New to the 968 and to the forum, but loving the car

it so far. Picked up a 1994 Midnight Blue Coupe last fall. It originally had the CUP II 17 inch wheels, but along the way someone swapped it to 16 inch Cup I's. The tires are done and I would like to go back to 17 inch wheels. I can't seem to locate any 7.5/9 inch Cup II's and so am looking for something just a bit bigger to bring out the muscle look of the car. Any suggestion on size? I can get a set of 17" x 9 for all four corners, but it doesn't seem like a popular set up for the street.

Would 17 x 8/9 be a good balance? and what offset would you go to for the 8/9 inch set?

Thanks for any info.

My car has Boxster Carrera rims on it. They're pretty accessible and give you a lot of tire choices.

Found these for sale, 18
Found these for sale, 18" x 9" and 18" x 7.5"

Those Boxster wheels are a great choice. I looking non Porsche aftermarket you'll probably find more options in 18x8 and 18x10 for the rear. Around 50 offset will work. Also wathc out, both non Porsche aftermarket wheels I've used had issues fitting over the front wheel hub and had to be modded.

These are the guys I deal with. Although they’re not listed, give them a call. They probably have both Cup I and II wheels available.

ps: keep in mind our cars have a different offset than the 911 (993-996) wheels do.

Welcome and great looking Midnight Blue Coupe !

Cant say for sure but yours appears to be a "true" '94 with the door pillar painted the body color. True '94 would get Cup II's from the factory. Nothing beats the Cup 1 and Cup II look on these cars. 17" wheels are the best fit/performance IMHO. 18's look the part but can be a little harsh on the suspension components....The only 18" wheel I would put on is the Porsche Speedline wheel as it looks so good I could ignore the fact that the bushings and suspension components were not very happy ! Many 18" wheels are very heavy as well depending on manufacturer. That said wheels and opinions are well you know the rest....

I have a few pair of the Cup II 7.5" wheels. One pair refinished with no tires ever mounted and one pair that needs refinished. Im on the east coast in Virginia.

Thank you all for the response. John, I agree that the Cup II's would be the best. Just trying to now decide if the 7.5/9 inch original is the way to go now.

That’s what I would do. And save the 16” for some nice winter tires.Like these.
