Default Heater water tube NLA?

'Mates - Well... as part of the "replace hose" project I decided to re-paint the water tube on the exhaust side between heater hose and heater control valve—y'know—the hard pipe bolted to the head.

In removing it I noticed—damn—one of the two plates the securing bolt goes through had broken off! I can take it to a local welder, or get a new one but I see the part is discontinued.

Thinking about it I'd rather buy a new one if one can be found somewhere than have a welder screw with such a tiny steel tab.

Know of any sources? I can check dismantlers but thought I'd check with y'all first.

Pelican and others have the late-944/951 version. Will this fit a 968?

Thank you. Part #27 in the diagram.

According to my research, the 968 tube is a supersession part number from the 944, so it should work. Pictures in PET look identical, although that's certainly no guarantee. If you go that route, Gaudin Porsche in Las Vegas has the same part for less than Pelican.

I contacted Lindsey Racing and posting here for the record, that because of the change to forward-located HCV, the 944 part won't fit a 968.

HA but the good news is my friendly neighborhood welding shop fixed it for free for me. Onward!

Good that it was able to be fixed.

Just so you and others researching know, the 944S2 had the forward-located HCV first. Maybe LR were thinking only of the 944, 944 Turbo, or 944S?

Did some additional research and found that the .07 version is available and works with forward HCV from the S2. But pricey at around $400. Not sure what changes were made from .07 to .09 for the 968, maybe due to Variocam?

I have often thought that I would get rid of the whole thing...makes me crazy with 4 hose clamps in a short 18" section of heater hose. Figured you could run a high quality hose with some slide on heat protection over it or use some of the fancy braided stuff for protection and reduce the hose clamps to 2 and make the whole connection at the HCV much simpler at one piece all the way from the fire wall. Also probably have 2 or 3 of these laying around if your still in need of one.
