Jason,

So if the torsion bars are removed and the uprated part fitted would about 500 springs work for spirited road use or would that still be too soft? How much firmew is it over M030?

very cool - when you removed the torsion bars, is that the only component of that assembly you removed? did everything else go back in (except of course or any hard material replacements like bushings) - i mean, was it as simple as just taking them out and putting it back together without them?

mine have to be reindexed in order to drop the back of the car another half inch, as my eccentrics are already all the way down - i figured, if it was possible, i would just eliminate the torsion bars altogether and replace them with coil springs

any help here would be greatly appreciated

William,
I think that 500# would be just fine, the 350# felt a little firmer than the M030 setup...Remember, though, I changed my shocks at the same time, too.

Flash,
We did a whole bunch of stuff at that time..One thing I do remember was that the torque tube needed stronger mounting, which we got through Racer's Edge...it was pretty easy, I just paid my mechanic! Not painless, but it was easy...maybe not for him, though.

I must admit to not being a mechanic, and I don't have much in the form of tools. But, I can load the car onto my trailer all by myself!

i was just looking at their site and saw the things you were talkng about - a conversation with karl will happen tomorrow

since i have 250# springs on the front, i'm thinking that about 400# in the rear, after deleting the torsion bars, should balance my cab well - otherwise i need to add a helper spring of 120# to the stock torsion bar - thoughts anyone?

Well, the KLA strut tower brace and the 8" & 10" BBS champion wheels seemed to be good additions to the car's M030 suspension. Was the steering more precise? Can't say for sure as the 968 handled well before adding the brace.

Compared with the 911, this is a forgiving chassis. Of course, after one track day, I haven't come close to approaching the car's prodigious handling limits. And, at this stage I may never.

Watkins Glen is next - May 19 & 20. I hope to add a full cage, steering wheel, seat(s) and 5 or 6 pt. harness before then. That, and new rubber, will do it for this year.

I think this is a Cargraphic strut tower brace.

I can see why they don't sell many of them.
Does not clear the fuel rail cover.

Possibly made for a 951?

i've seen it in person on a car, did not look good and most def. did not clear the fuel rail cover. The owner of said car made that exact comment, he believed it was made for the 951.

like this cargraphic one, anodised in black now as per later photo. It is a 968 specific strut brace...but does not fit very well, i modded mine slightly to clear the bonnet (and still proceded to put a small dent in it eventually!!!) and to clear the engine cover.

Mine came with a template to cut out part of the 'Porsche' vanity plate, so at some point they realized there were clearance problems . . .
