Few things I need to tackle.
ABS, air bag light came on, and Speedo stopped working.
now I thing the ABS and air bag and (!) came on after I accidentally let the battery cable touch the body just below the windshield (oops)
I don't remember if the speedo stopped at that time or later.
Other issue is the left headlight stopped working, but the fuse is still good (bulb is good)
I checked all the fuses they are all good.
appreciate tips on where to start.

No cheap fix to reset air bag light. I bought the Durametric Tool. Worked great.
I think speedo runs off front left ABS wheel sensor.
If you meant odometer, that is mechanical from tranny cable - gears in instrument cluster frequently break.
No idea on head light.
Good luck let us know what you find.

There are cheaper options than the hammer. this...

....plus you will need the OBD to USB dongle to reset the bag light.

The circular to OBD converter cable (from Berville or anyone else) only lets you hook up a modern OBD reader. You'll still need some way to reset the air bag light. That requires a Hammer or Durametric or ...
The Durametric version I bought logs the VIN and only allows use on three VINS. I have 3 Porsches so I can't loan my tool out to anyone. (By the way, fi you sell a car and exceed the 3 VINS, Durametric will reset the device I'm told , but I haven't needed to try this yet)

Don't think its the gears, the speedometer is not showing speed.

Ok looks like the abs/speedo was just a fuse,
and the headlight was a loose wire. I rewired for LED bulbs, and one of the wires came loose.
