Ended up ordering the Shark Motorsports bar. Fingers crossed I'll have no fitment issues.

Love the carbon fiber Porsche Motorsports bar! That's a very nice addition to such purpose-built cars!

I havent tried without a brace so cant really tell. I had a Swedish made aluminium strutbrace prior to this when the car still had its 16v NA engine.
Porsche deemed them necessary on the 944 Turbo Cups and the 968 RS so should be effective. Looks cool also which probably shaves a few tenths on track😉

Sidenote is that the final version of the 944 Turbo Cups (1990 French series) also had a brace underneath between the castorblocks. Has been copied by several aftermarket vendors since then.

You make good points about the factory using the bars. Would you mind sharing price for the carbon bar you have? PM me if you’d like.

I have a replica of the 951 cup bar that was commissioned by a RL member years ago.

Hey ladies and gentlemen,

the guy in germany doing these carbon strutbraces is me... unfortunately I had to deal with some issues regarding supplies of laser cut parts - but now I'm able to deliver again and directly made 4. Getting more of them dome is now also a point of weeks and not month

many thanks for the paitience - I today answered all mails and if there is a bigger amount needed we should bring together the numbers and I'll start getting more of them.

Love the bar and would be very interested in ordering one. I autocross 3-4 times a year and need all the help I can get.
However, I do not want to have to modify or remove my fuel rail cover to use a front strut brace.
Would it be possible for you to make a modification to the underside of your brace so modifiction of the fuel rail cover is no longer needed? Shouldn't be more than a cm or 2?
BTW-This would be for a 1994 coupe.

Thanks and stay safe,

@944er-teile.de

I’d be willing to buy one of these bars, especially if you can get it to fit a stock 968 motor with the fuel rail cover. Thanks for making this bar. Maybe we can organize a group buy?

Hey guys,

it's a bit crazy, the 6 parts I had, are sold out again already, I now ordered 10 more and will then take one to cut out and see if a modification to the 968 valve cover is possible without weakening it to much...

best regards, Patrick

Patrick,

Please don’t make a cut out in the carbon fiber bar. It would compromise its strength too much. It’s much easier for us to do a small cut out in the fuel rail cover where no strength is needed as it’s cosmetic not structural. That’s what I did on my Club Sport when I built it some years ago in the picture below. Just build them normally.

Patrick:

Mikey has a good point. Maybe you can make a low-profile carbon fiber 968 fuel rail cover that is compatible with your strut bar. Sell it as a package.

Can't you just redesign the bar slightly to accommodate the fuel rail cover? Perhaps use some higher modulus CF in the 8 CM area that needs thinning?

I was thinking you would redesign the mounts a little bit to let the ends attach a little higher and clear the fuel rail cover. Is there not enough space for that approach?

Alternatively, would a higher "bend"/radius in the bar help things out?

I am definitely interested in what happens here and those CF pieces are...chef's kiss.

Cheers

I am on board as well for one or two those beautiful CF strut braces. Especially if there will be a version that clears the fuel rail..
