Default General Values of Clubsports

Hello all,

I've been a RL member for 9 years, after purchasing my '96 993 Turbo. Also bought a pristine survivor '73 94 2.0 about three years ago. Now for some reason I'm getting an itch for the 968 and am intrigued with the 968 Clubsports. Have no real knowledge of these cars though and wondering if I can get some help here. What do I need to look for when looking at these cars? I will only buy an all original and hopefully well documented car. Prices seem to have skyrocketed in the past few years. Not surprising given their rarity. My question is, what general price range would I be in for an all original 30-45k mile Clubsport in concours condition? Is $60-75k the realistic range?

Appreciate any guidance you can provide on pricing and what to look for (or be aware of) with these cars.

Steve

That sounds low to me Steve, I'd think an M030 968 with those stats would be in that range, whereas a ClubSport would be more in the $100k range. Those with more knowledge will chime in soon I'm sure.

There are a few of us on this site in the ATL area if you want to drive a 968. I have a high mileage Cab and a 54k mile coupe.

Did you check out Jeff's 968registry.org site? It will help you with many of questions on paint options, etc.

Thanks for the input Eyeman. I'm a bit surprised at the suggested price! Hoping I would not need to go that high. Actually found one for sale in Speed Yellow at 76k kilometers (46k-ish miles?) at $75k. Have not checked it out but pics look really good. Might take you up on driving yours if I get serious here.

Mine was a race car so retail street value probably a different issue but one of the issues when I had mine about 10 years ago was getting them street legal in the US not sure that is still an issue or not. I think the $60-$70K value is probably an asking price not sure what they are changing hands at that number would be good to check Euro sales records as that's where most of them live.

Sure Steve, you can drive mine while I drive yours..lol.

By concours level, I assume you mean a "#1". I'm not sure how many #1 968s are out there, especially a Club Sport or M030.

You might be surprised, Eyeman. While I'm very careful and protective of my cars, I also don't get completely **** about them. The question is which one would you want to drive. Surprisingly I find myself gravitating to the 914 more than I ever thought I would!

England and Germany seem to have more 968 CS's for sale.

It's been a long time since I've seen a 914 on the road. I assumed they did not go up much in value due to being too VWish. Guess I should have bought one way back then instead of a couple of old Mercedes.
