Default Dyno pull!

I had the chance to get my 968 engine swapped S2 onto a dyno the other day and thought i would post it up here since im swapped. The motor is stock, with the thick headgasket, the thick gasket happened as it was all i could get during a road trip emergency. The DME does have an RS barn chip that looks to have me running a bit rich up top. Ultimate numbers were 172hp @5750 and 169ft-lbs @4500, these are uncorrected for my altititude which is 6,000ft. Pretty much right where i expected. The dyno was a Dynocom 5000.

cool. is the vario system functioning with the RS chip?

I did show the torque curve to a judge in Newport TN once. let me off with court costs. lol

It would appear that the vario output is set to always be on from the dme, it sees full voltage at all times. I just checked it with my DMM while revving above 1500rpm. I would expect to see zero voltage at idle if it was off right?

i believe it goes back to off after a certain rpm based on the oil temperature sender in the head...you may be leaving some upper rpm meat on the table if it is defaulted to advance.

Hmmm the motor was cold when i checked the voltage at low RPM... My understanding was 0-1500ff 1500-4500: On :4500+ off. But if it was cold that would maybe make sense. I think ill call RSbarn on monday and chat about how they handle the vario. I do feel like its missing a little bit up top, that would explain it if it was always advanced.

It just seemed your curve dropped off too soon.

i may be wrong, but I believe the idle validation signal is at the pedal, not the TPS with the 968 control unit. You might pin a diode with a 10k ohm resistor at the ECU and go for a run.

Corn fuel has ill effects so I usually won't push the limits on the mile high roads unless I tank up at co-op with real gas.

edit...'chips' generally go open loop at WOT so you might check the programing when you make the phone call. that might explain why you where running phat/rich. see if they can burn a chip that uses the o2 sensor at wide open due to your elevation

Oh reallllllly, i still have the S2 pedal setup, so i'm not sure that even has that validation switch. Time to dive in the PET. I'll ask about the O2 sensor as well, the car loves gas right now as i see 14-15.5mpg in pure city driving on 91/e10. Not that great, especially since its leaving some power on the table by being so rich. Thank you for the advice, i appreciate it!

i weaseled my way up under the dash and didn't see any senders/switches at the pedal.
