Default oxygen sensor

check engine light is on, I figure I will replace oxygen sensor and see if that clears the light (good practice anyway). Got the Bosch universal sensor. Hmm, to work out exactly how to do the install you need to measure the length of the old unit, connector to sensor. Got the old sensor out, but where the heck does it run to? From underneath, the cable just disappears into the engine bay. From above I cannot see where the cable is coming up. I guess it really doesn't matter, because I will just cut the old cable at the sensor end with enough to do the splice, and cut the cable on the new sensor so it is exactly the same length as the old cable. But it would be easier if I could get the sensor + cable off the car. But where does the cable run to? So I can disconnect it.

There is a holder at the back of the intake manifold, by the fuel rail, that holds the connector. It is a black round three pin connector. No fancy way of disconnecting it, the two halves just pull apart
