2017 - Big year for the 968 market
#17
All three of the buyers for the Wimbledon cab where serious, multi-Porsche collectors. The gentlemen who got the car has been dealing in collectible Porsches for 30 years and is one of the foremost authorities on collectible Porsches. He was more then thrilled to get this special car. I don't think you can compare a 944 turbo to a 968. I owned one. Great car but not a 968 and there are far too many and little variation in them. but that is my opinion. Still, be sure to post the 944 turbos that are trading with these numbers. Maybe i missed them?

I disagree. I have owned many of them and is one better than another? Not in my opinion, they are just different animals. There is plenty of variation, but since they built a lot more of them you have to sort through more of them to find the gems. Outside of the 3 cars you brought attention to in this thread, I would agree as previously stated that clean 951's are getting just as much or more than many 968's.
Back to the point of my thread, based on these recent true sales and my experience with the Wimbledon cab sale I feel stronger then ever that the 968 continues to move up market ahead of many other Porsche models. You can choose to disagree with me but for those of us that are true fans of the model I wanted to share that observation.

Obviously, but thanks for your thoughts on my thread and your opinion on my "overhyping". Still, my highlighted sales are actual true sales so for those that are following along at home, good news for the rest of us.

You're using outliers as representing an entire market.

It appears that outliers prices and the entire market prices seem to related:

Sorry. On one hand I want the price low so I can buy. On the other I want them to be ascending as I believe they will soon. They are past the depreciation phase by several years and with the initial limited production and now attrition by accidents (glad to see you saved the white coupe recently) or disasters I'm thinking of selling my boxster or my '75 R90S to make room for a second 968.

Something I’ve wondered about lately is how many were lost in the recent hurricanes and what affect that has on the market.
