ROW was 93 & 94
US were 228 in 1993 that were M718 coded to change VIN from MY 1993 P code to MY 1994 R code. We know them as 1994 MY only. Although the 228 M718 cars all have P coded Engine and Tranny with R code VIN # the remaining 122 1994's have an R code engine and tranny and VIN. Although they were all built prior to December of 1993.
A small technicality.

Porsche played this game for many models that is why there is so much confusion about production numbers. Some examples that received the M718 coded treatment are the RSA, America roadster as well as the first 20 1994 928 GTS's were M718 coded. Although the GTS carried all the features of the 1993 model like Cup I wheels vs Cup II but were still sold as 1994MY cars. in fact Porsche has two sets of vins for the 1993 928 GTS. There is an early and late VIN number. The entire first shipment of 88 GTS to the US were produced along side the ROW 1992 MY cars and sold in the US as 1993 and the second round of 102 received a new vin number.
Since there were no changes to the 964 turbo 3.6 all are identical except for a P stamp in the engine and tranny ID numbers. I consider all US 964 turbo 3.6's to 1994 MY.
Not a wealth of info just picked up on bits of information from hanging out with you guys all these years.
