Default How to distinguish a genuine Turbo S rear spoiler?

I would like to know how to distinguish a genuine 964 turbo S rear spoiler. Are the all fibre glass? Is it a 1 piece spoiler connected to the rear lid? Or are they 2 separate pieces like on a rear normal turbo spoiler?

thanks.

Norm

These are so rare that not many of us have seen one first hand. It was probably all fiberglass to reduce weight.

Not sure which Turbo S model you're speaking about ?! If you're sepaking about the 964 Turbo S Lightweight car, rear spoiler is made of Kevlar. If you're speaking about the 964 Turbo S 3.6 liter car, rear spoiler is made (99% sure, other people to confirm) of fiberglass.

Kevlar / Fiberglass patterns (which can be seen in the inner part of the rear spoiler) are different and rather easy to recognize : Kevlar pattern looks more like a checkered flag whereas finerglass pattern looks more like cloth.

In the pictures I've seen of the 3.3 964 Turbo S the wing is still in 2 pieces just like the stock wing, so did they use the steel engine lid and put the Kevlar wing on top?

I believe the body part number for the Kevlar rear wing on the Turbo S Lightweight is 964.512.001.07. As far as I can tell it uses the standard engine cover as the Turbo.

Rennlister Cobalt, if I recall correctly, has detailed information on these spoilers.

Thank you guys for your input. I have a dear friend who is taking one off his car. Just curious to know if its a genuine one or not. Not sure if it came off a 3.6 Turbo S.

3.6 Turbo S is fiberglass. One piece with inner plastic grill that is the same part as the standard turbo wing. I have seen them with and without a metal mesh insert.

Under the lip of the back of the wing is the familiar small triangle stamp for parts that were fabricated outside the factory.

Agree Carlos : part # is correct (but NLA) and engine cover is the standard (read : steel) 964 Turbo cover ...

I have by the way a new spare original Turbo S lightweight rear wing that I will weigh just to see how light this part is
