Default Bad News from Brunei

Today i had more confirmation of what i had suspected - the turbos left in
Brunei are mostly scrap or dumped in the sea !

Here is the message from a trusted Brunei national i have been in touch with for years

" Good day John,

You are right regarding the turbo 3.6 in the yards. I have seen three which unfortunately has turned to scrap.
From what i know, there are only 13 in Brunei. Two of them are in good condition owned by private individuals in Brunei. The rest are in a state, whereby it cost more to restore than to get a new Cayman.
In the past i came across a nice one but there is no possibility of it being exported out of Brunei as the required ownership cert required by Brunei customs is not available.
Hope that helps. "

Why Brunei? Check in with the Prince. I'm sure he has another one in his collection.

The other 11 he refers to are the Royal cars. Most of these are/were S versions.

The number of RHD cars drops by 10%. A waste of great cars, but great for existing owners to know these aren't ever coming on the market.

I read this report a year or two ago , but had hoped that somehow the 3.6 Turbos had escaped. http://jalopnik.com/5781765/the-sult...car-collection
& been waiting years to get the chance of a Flatnose if one became available !

Such a waste , but at least they helped keep small marques like Porsche in business in the
Early 90s recession.

I don't think they are dumped into the sea. I recall seeing 2 for sale at the Ex Amedeo car auction. Red & Black( Has the flat nose). They were purchase at a very high price.

I do see some 911 & 928 are ended up in a very sad state at workshop yard & jungle
