Hi!
For the owners of the 91 964T, what is the factory radio installed in your car?
I would like to replace the installed Alpine radio to make it period correct.
Thank you!

I thought it was the CR-1. I have that radio, which was replaced by the PO for a CR220 with Ipod input.. I replaced that with a kenwood, as I needed the handsfree bluetooth.. Both of the other radios are available if you are interested
PM me and I can send pics if you want

Thank you for all the replies!
Aquagenic, somebody has contacted me for it already, but I'm holding the alpine till I get a good factory one and satisfied with it.
F3nr15, I'll check with it. Thanks!
Sharker, kindly send the pictures and price to adbkennels@hotmail.com
Thanks again!

The CDR-220 is from a 1998 and up 996 and is a Becker. It is what I currently have in my car and is a big step up from the first generation CD-1 that was installed in my car. The CD-1 skipped every time I hit a bump. When I went to the CDR-220 I was able to remove the preamp under the passenger's seat.

The only 2 head units offered in the US were the CR-1 or CD-2. You could add the optional 6 Disc remote CD player to the CR-1. In any case they are both exceptionally crappy units. They have poor overall sound and the CD-2's skipped. I had the CR-1 in my turbo and CD-2 in my 928 I swapped them both out for the Nakamichi CD-500 which looks close enough to factory and sounds far better.

I went through every bit of documentation I have. Including the factory Manuals, the manual supplied with my 93, 94 911 and 93 928, the service technik information from 1991 through 1995 for the 911's and 928 and the sales info guide (which has been known to have false info in it) This is what I can determine from it so take it as you see fit.
The best I can tell the Reno was offered in Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Great Britain, Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Yugoslavia, Denmark and Switzerland with no mention of the US. I have never seen a 964 with this radio so I am not sure why yours came with one or if others came similarly equipped. The primary reason for offering this model in these countries was because of the RDS "Radio Data System" which was not available in the US at the time.
I am surprised to see that your manual specifies a radio model. Both my C2 and turbo manuals from different years don't specify any info about the radio specifically other than the code info's location. A separate booklet was supplied with all three of these models on the inside cover a copy of the security code was included.
I found that the CR-1 is offered standard on the 964's for the US and the only mention to the CR-2 is for the Japanese market. The CDC1 was offered as an add on for both countries. No other reference to a CD player other than the optional CDC-1 is mentioned however the sales info states an option CD-2 with AM/FM radio is offered for a price of $752.00 but no option code is offered. The CDC-1 was option code 692 at a cost of $1245.00 So your guess is as good as mine
I hope this info helps and I would be interested in any other info you guys might have to clarify this. However as I said tonally the CR and CD units sucked and if you are looking to improve sound changing the head unit will do more for you than changing the speakers assuming they are still in one piece. Of course doing a complete swap will yield the best results

Our 91 has the CD-2 along with the references Cobalt mentioned. It is crappy at best and the CD player is even worse. I haven't turned it on in a few years.
I was in dc auto last week and they had a half dozen of them along with that many CR-1 and several 220's.
