Recommended Polish/ Wax
Just a quick posting to see what other owners are finding good on there cars.
I have been trying to decide what wax/polish works best on the car for several months and cannot really make up my mind.
Before the Porsche was purchased I would have sworn by Mer car polish as i had used this on several other cars and liked the way it tended to keep the car cleaner for longer.
I tried all the autogym producks and again like the extra protection gloss but not really that convinced by the rest of it.
Then when I tried Zymol (£50 a pot) and it smelled nice but I am not sure it really does that much more.
I have experimented doing one part of the car with one wax and the other side with another but I seem to be still pretty much of the opnion that most of its all hype and marketing and they are all about as good as each other.
Maybe a good restorer, polish then wax followed by Autogyn extra gloss will be what i do during the cold months when I have time to spend on the car. wax <img src="graemlins/c.gif" border="0" alt="[ouch]" />
By the way good tip as a wheel cleaner get a can of Mr Sheen or other spray furniture wax. As it has a wax content it will remove alot of the road grime , tar etc and leaves a protective film on wheels. Picked up this tip at a moterbike shop when they showed how to save hours of scrubbing trying to remove splashed on chain lube and other grime from wheels.

I use the 3M imperial hand glaze followed by One Grand Blitz Wax. Amazing finish and it still looks great almost a year after I last did it. I wax my cars maybe once a year if that. I didn't expect it to last this long as others had said the One Grand is more of a concours wax and not a daily driver kind of wax. I think they are wrong as the results have stood the test of time and in Vancouver, it rains a lot.

If you want protection for your bodywork then I would use a carnubia wax. Zymol and others use this. The actual shine may not be much better than Autoglym and Mer, but it lasts so long - that's where you spend the extra money. I waxed my car 7-8 weeks ago and have given it a light wash twice since - the water still beads strongly on the paintwork. It protects much better, but not sure whether the finish is twice as good?
If you are going to wash and polish your every week, just get something that is easy to use - Carnubia wax takes more effort.

I have tried them all.
The highest quality wax (and higest carnuba content) that I have used is Victoria's Red wax from rennlister Brice Kadel.

Take it from a Porsche club of America Parade concours winner (with my 1991 C2T).
It is THAT good.
