Question 964 TURBO

HELLO EVERYONE,
I HAVE A QUESTON ABOUT AN EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR A 3.8 LTR. TURBO. IT HAS STOCK HEAT EXCHANGERS AND MUFFLER WITH A SUPPOSED HIGH FLOW CAT. I'VE BEEN LOOKING AT B&B AND FABSPEED CAT BYPASS SYSTEMS. I'VE ALWAYS UNDERSTOOD THAT THE STOCK HEAT EXCHANGERS WERE JUST AS MUCH A PROBLEM AS A RESTRICTIVE MUFFLER AND CAT. ANY ADVICE OR PRODUCT PREFERENCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANKS!

This thread has been beat up a few times here. Cat by-pass vs. headers and muffler, Joe Fabiani (AKA what-ever-his-latest-alias-is) v. Mark S, etc.. I still believe that eliminating the cat and replacing the headers and muffler is the way to go. Getting rid of the stock headers (heat exchangers)cat and mufflers is more efficient, creates more power, eliminates serious weight, and can still pass Califonia smog. Other than some installation complications I am very satisfied with the B&B setup on my 3.6. The 3.6 system should work on a stroked motor.
