Post '91C2T Maintenance Cost Expectations

Q1) What would I expect to pay in normal annual maintenance for a turbo? How would this compare to a normally aspirated car? Are there any particular worries?
Q2) I had heard there may be some maintenance issues for the 1990-1994 cars. Is this true?

FYI - I'm researching the acquisition of a turbo Porsche and given my budget, this is a 930 or '91C2T. Yesterday I drove a '92C2T and a '95 993 in order to get a feel for the turbo vs. non-turbo feel. I liked the turbo which both felt faster and more "sporty".

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Hi jjg,

I've only owned my C2 Turbo since Oct 2000, so I will tell you about the maintenance on my car.

After purchase, I did the alignment, wheels balancing, corner balance. Total $360.

Had Hydraulic brake servo failure. Cost ~$870 for part alone. Add a few hours of labors to that.

Major Service, my first one $1300. This included valves adjustment, tune up, tranny oil change. Fuel enrichment device added, belts change, and a lot of little things from the Technical Bulletins since '92.

This year, up to Oct 2002, I hope nothing breaks, I will only need an oil change as regular service goes. I will need new tires soon.

Other than that, I will spend money on enhancement if my budget permits. I can only hope...

Here is my wish list: Electronic Boost Controller, header system, Forge CBV valve, a set of 17mm spacers with built in studs. A subwoofer system with two 8" JL subs (have amp), a set of S-03 tires, and <img src="graemlins/burnout.gif" border="0" alt="[burnout]" /> a week worth of DE's.... <img src="graemlins/jumper.gif" border="0" alt="[jumper]" />

I am done <img src="graemlins/yltype.gif" border="0" alt="[typing]" /> now...
