Boost Gauge ?
Does anyone make a boost gauge to replace the clock that is back lit to match the 964/965 gauges. I have found the earlier style that is halo lit but not a back lit model. Thanks!

I called Windward about this exact thing. Apparently the clock can not be replaced as it is connected into the diagnostics. You can push the clock back inside the dash and let it sit there, but apparently you can not disconnect it.
I currently have an Andial gauge that sits in the far left AC duct, but it is small, unlit, and clocks air flow.
I wonder how others have dealt with this. I want a nice large boost gauge with a taletell needle.

Seems like we could take the clock mechanics out of the center of the gauge and put a boost gauge mechanics in its place.
Talked to a VDO shop about this and they seem to think it was possable but that they had not done it "yet"!
I belive the clock is a standard clock. However, there are a lot of warning lites around it.
How many would be interested in this???

I would definately be interested, but those warning lights are required by the diagnostic system. If VDO can replace the face and clock mechanics to accomodate a boost gauge I would buy it.
It either has to be a fast turnaround or I need a loaner clock - I don't think I could be without my car for very long.

Guys,
The clock is an integral part of the airbag system. You cannot remove it unless you do not have airbags installed. If the clock is disconnected the airbag system warn will activate and you will have to get the Bosch hammer hooked up to reset the system and whilst the clock is out the airbag system operation cannot be guaranteed.

I'd be interested in a boost gauge that left me with all my factory look and warning lights. The idea of coring the clock innards out and replacing with boost gauge guts and face while leaving all the rest seems good - if a bit risky the first time...

As long as you secure the clock and its associated wiring inside the instrument cluster, you can put in a conventional boost gauge sold as a clock replacement.
The only other alternative that I know of, is the Andial gauge that replaces the heater/ac vent to the left of the steering wheel. I have it and I can tell you it is pretty useless - it is too far away from windshield and difficult to read.

I was told the 993TT tach/boost gage will read over 1.0 bar. I do not know if it will work with the 964 but it is costly and I have yet to find one used.
