Post Cat bypass

I want to put a cat bypass on my 964 turbo. Does anyone know where I can get one? How hard are these to install?

Fabspeed is the place for a bypass.

Not too hard to install if you can get the car on ramps. One of the nuts on the old CAt is very hard to get at and may give you a few bruises.
Allow a couple of hours work ( most on getting to one nut)

69COU did you remove the cat from your car? Did you notice a difference? I was on the 993 board and they said it reduced turbo lag and gave a good HP gain. I also found out that its legal in my state.

I found it sounded quicker and felt a bit more responsive.
Had the car Dyno tested and they say it was putting out about 334BHP at the wheels so about 14BHP gain. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="wink.gif" /> Although I cannot tell if the car was producing its full 320BHP before Cat Bypass.

I did not test before doing the bypass as this was part of a before and after I am doing for a 1bar turbo spring.

Alot of detail is on another posting click here
<a href="http://forums.rennlist.com/cgi-bin/rennforums/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=25;t=000249;p=3" target="_blank">Posting with details on Cat Bypass</a>

Earlier in this posting page 2 I think James also gives his dyno results which give a bit of a comparison.

I also have installed the Fabspeed cat-bypass pipe, and it does have better throttle response and adds a much nicer exhaust tone. I will be adding Fabspeeds J-Pipe as well. If any one wants photos I have some with the fabspeed installed.

Keith
I have two of the CATs sitting in the Garage one from My car and a spare I got of someone else who changed to a stainless stell complete system. Shame i am in London I would let you have one free. (If you want to pay the shipping they are heavy i would send you one.)

Mr Bitterman
Your car will probably sound too loud if you fit the J pipe as well as the CAT bypass.
I tried it and ended up putting the secondary muffler back on.I sold the J pipe to someone who keep the CAT on and even then they failed the noise test at Nuremberg Ring after doing a drive out from UK to Germany. A few others also done the same and got the J pipe then reverted back to installing the secondary back box. (You have been warned)

By the way even FAB Spped say that the secondary back box on our cars does not have any restriction (They cut one open.)You can test yourself by putting a golf ball in one side and it will fall through to the other.

Cheers

I too have both the Fabspeed cat-bypass and the muffler bypass (j-pipe).

The car sounds really great. When you accelerate under a bridge, it sounds like a F1 engine!

But... it is too loud for my neighborhood. So I have the muffler back on. I swap the muffler out for track events.. sometimes.

I must say that the fit and quality of the cat bypass is superb. And I second the fact that it's a b*tch to get on at the turbo end.

I payed $425 for it in July 02' and the weight savings is about 10lbs, I think. The cat is pretty heavy.
