help knocking sound from the rear end
Hi all i have a 964 turbo 3.6 when i drive in low speeds and take my foot of the gas paddel and turn either left or right there is a knocking sound. ..... Any body had this issue and how tk solve it. i am thinking of buying LSD from FVD 20-50% will that help?

The LSD that came in the car should last longer than you!! IF the knocking turns out to be the LSD, suggest getting it fixed rather than replaced. The good thing about these cars is, they were built really well. The old fashion way. For the most part they just run.

The diff clutch plates wear out at 60 - 70 k miles. In 1993, the factory changed the plate coating and that's what the 3.6 and every car with new clutch plates (including mine) has. Otherwise, Ralt, you are correct, the diff is indestructible.

Harith, just try and check another car like yours ... maybe the "noise" is just the normal sound of the LSD plates engaging ... the 3.6 got carbon plates too ... I'd never replace it with an aftermarket one unless it's blown ... and if it has been used on street only it's going to bury you first ...

I wish i had money its all coming from the bank hehehe.
Will it has 70k miles
on it. i dont want to buy another lsd unless its the last salution. Well the mechanic told me today it might be the rear arm bushes one of them is worn. I was searching over the internet some had the exact problem on 3.6 turbo, some said you need to put in some differntial modifer oil so i will do that next and see

Word on diff oil: I've found that Mobil 1 LS (can't remember if it's 70 or 80 weight) is the only oil that allows the clutch plates to slip. The C2 guys can use Delvac but I've tried it and it's horrible.
