Default Need help on backdating door handles!

Has anyone installed older door handles so they could lock their doors without power on their 964's? If so what was needed etc? I hate the fact you need the battery to lock the doors! They use the central locking system I want to get rid of.

Good post. I don't have the central locking system on my RSA either and need to lock the doors by pushing down the buttons. Anybody have any clue?

I just want to bypass the central locking system so I can ditch the alarm control unit and be able to lock my doors if the battery is dead.

Well here is a possible path to explore. The 1992 Turbo S lightweight (and Carrera RS Basic) had no central locking system. See if your local Porsche dealer can find the service manual for this car - which would show its operation and how the central locking system was bypassed - and the parts used.

I will see if I can locate any of this info and will share it if I do.

Simply get an inner door latch mechanism either from an 89 RS Carrera or an 88 Carrera should work
possibly even unplug your present mechanism from the system it should open manually or something is
bent...
Your lock tumblers should still work..

Or I was going to say just disconnect the micro switch and the auto lock coil and see what happens?
