Does dash air reach your face?
Just a curious quickie. I have a LHD 1993 964 3.6T. We have had really hot weather here in Spain recently. The aircon is rather pathetic (has been re-gassed) but does work OK. However, it doesn't matter how much I twiddle the dashboard air vents - the air persists in going passed my right shoulder into the back of the car. Can't get it onto the driver area at all. The air vent left of the driver is so feeble it probably wouldn't blow a match out 
So, the Q is: can YOU get air on your face or chest!

I have had my car for almost 5 years and I am SO glad you posted this as I initially thought it was me. 
Sometimes in the summer I literally have to lean toward the center to feel the AC blowing as the cool air typically is somewhere to my right.
The AC would have a better impact on cooling me or increase the perception of cooling me if the vent was allowed to swivel about another quarter to half inch toward the driver. There has to be a simple fix for that. Overall the AC isn't great but still better than the cars from the 80s and not nearly as good as the water cooled cars.
Does anybody have a suggestion on how to get the vents to twist or swivel more?

The left vent teds to blow on my arm but the center does blow straight at me. I don't think there has been any "adjustments" to the vents. But then again, I probably would't know.
You might ask the 964 folks.

You guys now have me thinking about this one.
I'll have to play around with my vents and see if i can come up with a solution.
I agree with Brooklyn, the air has to be hittin' me in the face to be effective.

I get air all over me but have to aim both center vents at me for it to work. If just the driver side is aimed at me from the center there is not enough. Both of my 964's have been the same. Now if you have a passenger this is not good.
My other solution...get a 996. Absolutely the best Pcar air ever!
