My car is gaining oil?
Changed the oil last winter..no problem. Now it is 97 degrees outside and the oil level gauge and the dip stick both show full when a couple of weeks ago the gauge was showing 1/2 full. Cooler and fan are running. Is there a oil supply pump for the turbo that is not working? Not over heating. Thanks

What's your mixture set at? If you are running very rich, the gas will wash down the cylinders and end up in the crankcase, diluting the oil. Not a good situation as oil dilution will destroy your engine.
|
Is it possible that you checked the oil last time when the thermostat was closed and this time the thermostat had opened up raising the oil level???

Mine does that too.
Nevermind...... |
The engine takes crazy long to fully warm up, especially in winter when its cold. Nothing to worry about. Oil dilution is a problem but you can decrease that. Just hit the autobahn or your local racetrack once a month

In 5 years of owning a 90 C2 I never experienced this. But it had the second oil cooler which I am about to add to this car too. Thanks everyone!

Is the oil cooler fan working? Mine wasn't,, hence the rise in level when hot.

The real test of the oil cooler is what happens when caught in traffic. I owned my car two years until I got caught in traffic and the temp continued to rise to 11 o'clock. If the fan is working it should go no higher than almost 10 o'clock and drop back down to 9 o'clock when the fan comes on.
I had bad fan ballasts on the oil cooler fan and the condenser fan. Replacing the ballasts fixed the problem. |
That is why I have the RUF oil cooler waiting to go on!!! To freakin risky for me.
|
Replacing a ballast is a lot easier and cheaper than adding another oil cooler, unless you are either going to track your car of up the hp substantially.
|
Nothing wrong with my fan and it was not running hot. Just a little over the 1/2 mark. Just in Texas it gets real hot! Better safe than sorry. My old C2 had the RUF cooler and it struggled to even get to the 1/2 mark in the 100 degree heat in traffic....not sure it ever did?

Yesterday it was 92 degrees and my temp gauge didn't go past 1/4 (8 o'clock) doing 85 mph for 20 minutes with the a/c on.
Are all the body seals on your oil cooler intact? |
Yep, it was 99 here and that was in a drive through line at the pharmacy. Cooled right down at speed. But with the extra cooler it will run where yours is at. Goes on in 2 weeks.
