Is this normal???
Im adjusting the ride height on my car after replacing shocks and stuff. Well ive got the front spring collars up pretty high already and the front end of the car is still not nearly as high as i would like and still pretty far off Euro ride height. So i look into the wheel well and the top 4 coils of the spring and bottom 4 coils are pressed together??? WTF??? My wife took camera so i cant get a pic but i drew on this one so you can see what im talking about.
n see what im talking about.

Paul they are H&R reds 29834, the top 4 and bottom 4 coils are literally sitting on top of each other, i tried raising the ride height today and im nearly at the top of the perch in front and not even at 145 mm's ride height.
Can someone take a look at their suspension if you have Bilstein Hd's and HR reds and tell me if your coils are actually touching each other, particularly in the front end.

Yes, it's normal. The coils that are close together to allow for the drop. Here's what mine looked like.
where are you measuring your heights?

The top 4 coils and bottom 4 coils are actually touching and sitting on top of each other when the car is sitting on the ground.
Also my front spring perches are getting near the top and im not even at 145 mm's ride height in the front, IS THAT NORMAL?? I am measuring at the prescribed points in the manual.

Yes they look like that.
here is a pic of the same setup on my C2 with the car lifted off the ground. as the car is lowered the spring compresses and you will see the springs come together especially more so at the middle but slightly more at top and bottom. The majority of the compression takes place in the middle section where the gap is widest as that compresses the spring rate becomes more uniform across the spring and stiffer.
Assuming you have the correct shocks and dampening you should have a similar ride height to the rest of us. It needs to be adjusted by the threads of the shock body.
Correct ride height on a turbo should look like this.

Thank alot Anthony, Another Rennlister sent my a pic of his where the 4 top and bottom are touching as well, but im just so confused and im almost certain these springs have been softened somehow. The reason i say that is today i raised the collars all the way to the top on the fronts and im at 135 mm ride height. Shouldnt it be much higher than that??? Im measuring from the rear outer bolt head at the suspension cross member to the floor.
I notice in your pic that the spring perch is at the bottom of the threads what kind of ride height do you have on that car do you know???

Ok well i talked to H&R a few minutes ago and they said these springs lower the front 35.5 mm's and thats tested in europe so in that case the front of a euro car would be sitting at 129.5 mm's and that would be just about as high as you could get it, does that sound correct? Sorry if i seem paranoid but i just want my suspension to be perfect after all this work.
