FWIW, I have not been able to have this one repaired nor have I had any luck sourcing a reliable replacement. If I actually used it, I would replace it with an aftermarket unit.

I had a similar experience.
Since my CD skipped every time I hit a bump I replaced it with a CD220.

It's my understanding the CDR-210 is 993 vintage whereas the CD220 may be 996/Boxster. Paul, is that where you sourced yours? How did you handle wiring it to the stock cable and amp?
The one issue that has prevented me from buying an aftermarket unit is that I like the appearence of the stock Porsche units. That's not a great reason, but it works for me.

Gary I feel the same exact way as you, and I also do not want to cut/splice any wires on my factory harness.

I agree
I picked up a CDR 210 unit off of flea bay yesterday so I can turn mine back to somewhat original stock. Although its the wrong head unit for my car it is a Porsche unit and it will look better than the silver cheesy one in the car now.

Just hope I dont have tooooo much trouble with the wires.

What happens with the wires is the big question, I'm waiting on Metal Guru to get back to me so once I hear from him I'll let you guys know. If it is simple plug and play that'd be fantastic!
