Default Miricles do happen

Hi all,

thought I'd share my latest Porsche related expirience with you!! Having moved to France and not having the best grasp of the language here, I posted a message in the France section of Rennlist. Toga, if you know him, put my request on to a French site (club911.net) which I have now joined.

I was looking for a specialist garage in my region and had found one myself approx 55km from where I live. Interestingly a message came back yesterday afternoon, with a recommendation for a garage, with a town name I recognised. As it turned out it was less than 5km from my home. A quick sprint down there last night, met the owner and had a tour of the workshop.

They specialise in the air-cooled cars and have several RS projects on going. There is even a regular Saturday morning get together for coffee with other local owners. What's the chances of something like that landing in my lap?

Of course my wife is now worried knowing I have expert help on the doorstep, and a reason to go out every Saturday morning.

Cheers
Steve

Great news Steve ! That is such an important part of a good ownership experience.when it comes to repairs , mods or even breakdowns that convenience of a local and welcoming garage should save you time and cash for taking the missus out !

Hi Steve,

Where are you located and which specialist do you refer to?

HI Samuel,

this is RSO l'attelier 911 Preparation (contact info 02 32 36 97 41 or clubrso@aliceadsl.fr) in Bueil, 27730. I'm guessing you would be about an hour and half from him.
I was impressed with the workshop, clean well spaced out (they didn't have cars sitting on top of one an other like some, which in my experience can lead to dents on doors etc)
He seams to be a genuine enthusiast, and will now be fitting my new wastegate bypass and sport cat next week.

Cheers
Steve

w/g yes cat bypass no, it's a 200 cell sport cat, no doubt louder than standard (fingers crossed) but still ok to live with.

My ZERO cell cat and G-pipe are "still ok to live with."

excellent, did the mods make any difference apart from noise, ie driveability, performance?

Steve did you mean all my mods, or just the exhaust mods?

1. Cat delete first = improved low end torque, not much sound.
2. cat delete and g-pipe = great sound, at least as good reponse as option 1.
3. cat delete and muffler refitted, as worried about possible attention from police. = sound too quiet and definite loss of response compared to option 2. Also encouraged me to speed in my search for excitement.
4. cat pipe and g-pipe back on, sounds and goes great.

I think you will be good with a sports cat plus g-pipe, but sports cat alone too subtle for me.

yes I meant the exhaust mods. did the wastegate bypass do much, apart from hopefully lots of noise on boost and flames?

w/g pipe only sound, no performance.
I didn't get any flames at all with any combination until headers installed.
As I said before headers are great but hassle - but see other threads on this subject.

The only benefit from wastegate bypass (other than sound ) would be if you were experiencing boost creep from a big efficient turbo.

Was your car first registered before 01/01/1993?
If yes, then you can remove the cat from your car and it will still be road legal in France.
Is it registered in France?

Hi Steve

I am thinking of a cat and wastegate bypass for my car. Let us know how you get on.

Cheers
