AV,
What do you mean about the flywheel? These weight savings are the ACTUAL weight differences of the components, therefore saved 11kg immediately :-)

As the weight reduction is at the flywheel, the effect is much greater than the pure weight saving. Is this not UNsprung weight? Maybe I have not used the correct engineering term?

I was always under the impression unsprung weight had to do with anything hanging off the axles. So tires, brakes, wheels, rotors etc would all affect unsprung weight. Sprung weight had to do with anything to lighten the car, Seats, exhaust body panels etc.

correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, But that requires enrollment in the driver improvement program.

Now for a real question,

Do the coil springs on a 964/t count as sprung or unsprung?

Do the sway bars (ARB's) count as sprung or unsprung?

Yes, this is according to "the definition", parts of the springs and dampers are also considered "unsprung mass". The lower unsprung weight the better grip.

Rotating mass is "another thing", where you will have a more rapid respons if that weight is low when revving the engine. That weight includes wheels, tires, discs, drive shafts, flywheel etc.

Edit:

Edit 2: spelling error
