Talking Exhaust note

Clearly as it's a dull day here in france I decided what better to do than play about on youtube. So here is my first ever attempt at an upload.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_aqzTHmRnsA

I thought it may be of use those wanting to modify exhausts if some sound files were available, so hoping others with different set ups may add to this post.

Personally I'm keen to hear a system with a cat bypass fitted.

Cheers
Steve

latest news, I've now ordered a wastegate bypass and 200 cell sport cat (early xmas present) will probably fit in Jan so will update with sound files on youtube. Will try to record after each install.

PS should I now get flames from the wastegate?

Steve,
You will need to remove the baffle in the wastgate tail pipe also for added sound and possible flames. Not easy to do, it is spot welded so likely it will break (mine did) so maybe time to consider new tips...

I didn't get flames until my new headers, but if your mixture is rich enough, maybe you will...

baffle is already removed and the tips are new so guess the PO did the job.

What are my chances of removing the Wastgate' side baffle with just common tools? I want to hear some of the turbo whine and while on boost, but not during idling and just driving in the city, like taking the car to work.

I have put secondary muffler back on my car (used to have the G pipe, everything else is stock) because I want to some peace and quite when driving to work, not a track car. I just hated the sound from just moving in traffic during normal driving, the pop pope..., can't stand it for more than 1/2 hour. Although I just love to take it for a fun drive with the secondary muffler off.

Thanks,

Sonny, I used a local garage to get the stuffing out of my OEM wastegate tailpipe, and although successful, it disintegrated shortly afterwards. Its spot-welded, if that's the correct term, so needs to be redone well to hold. After that I just bought a pair of 2nd hand Fabspeed aftermarket tails which don't have any baffles. Now I have changed again to Carpgraphic quads which also are baffle-less. To be honest, the main sound deadening on the wastegate side is the mini cat in the pipe itself (ie. not the tailpipe. To replace the pipe, you will need a new part, either custom or from someone like Scart (good) or Inox (was not a good fit for me). Have fun!

Thanks Addict.

I am sorry I was not clear. When you said that the baffle was removed I assumed the mini Cat's portion.

I want to remove the mini Cat from the wastegate side of the exhaust. How doable is this if you have any experience with it.

We do have Smog check/test here in California, but they don't test on the left side (wastegate side). Besides, the wastegate only opens when you are on boost, which is not often. This is the only way I can get some sound from the car and still be able to drive it everday if needed, which I do sometimes.

as I've just done all you need is a wastegate bypass pipe. I got mine from design911, a cheap part as far as they go for these cars. I am waiting on its arrival and can then comment on quality and fittment.

Steve,
there is also a baffle in the tailpipe.

Sonny,
with the replacement wastegate pipes that we have mentioned, they will bolt up to the OEM left tip.

I looked on on www.design911.co.uk under 965 Exhaust section and did not find anything like that.

I am looking to replace the part number 28 on the exhaust picture on design911website, which is the mini cat. Please see picture.

Am I looking at the right place?

Thanks,

Steve,
the good news is, Design911 sell some Scart stuff,
the bad news, is I don't see the w/g pipe on their site, are you sure you ordered the right part?
