Default Opinions...modify fuel lines or build from scratch?

Thanks for looking.

I am moving my adjustable wur to a more accessible location and need to lengthen the two fuel lines (red arrows).

My question is how would you do it?

Would you build new fresh lines? Splice the originals? If building new, any hints would be appreciated since I have never made them before.

In addition, I am going to add a fuel pressure sensor in line.

Here is a pic just to clarify. We are talking the rubber lines going to the fuel head.

One other thing...anyone know what the 12 point bolts are on the gold (WUR) bracket (blue arrow)?

Thanks!

Very interesting indeed!
Will you be able to adjust the WUR without removing it?

To lengthen the fuel lines I would remove them and have a shop dealing with pressure hoses have a look at them. If you find (or allready know) a good shop, making new hoses won't cost that much.

I would think it's a XZN bolt at the blue arrow.

Staffan...I think you are right about the bolt. Thanks!

Here is an early prototype but yes the leask WUR will be fully adjustable without removing anything.

What a great idea. I have read many posts about what a PITA it is to adjust the WUR due to the location of it to fine tune.

Nice this is so helpful, keep those pictures coming!

I have so many things to deal with this winter, hope to have the time and energy to make my WUR adjustable as well. I really need to do something about my fuel mixture, haven't done any logging but had someone read my AFR while accelerating through the gears, it's too lean.

My plan is to log AFR at different RPM's and boost levels, looks like the AFR is fine at full boost and low rpm's, but when I reach 4.5K or so it goes above 12.5 and increases with RPM. Need to figure out what to do.

RT, what does your AFR curve look like and have you decided if you will run with some type of switch?

Wow, you plan to use the output from the Zeitronix box to trigger your switch?!This is getting more interesting for every post!

Thanks. I like your DIY style as well.

The immediate plan is to use the Zeitronix to trigger the rpm solenoid.
However, I have the Andial enrichment also. If I can get the Andial to give me additional fuel past the adjustable WUR (i.e. greater pressure drop before I reach the limits of the fuel head), I will have the Zeitronix control the Andial and use the rpm module for the rpm solenoid. With the Zeitronix, you can have a complex trigger. I was toying with the idea of triggering the Andial say at 5k rpms AND AFR < 12 or something like that.

I will need to get the Zeitronix hooked up before any of those tests.

As far as the current thread, I am going to order some new hose once I find out the ID and reuse the fittings. I am going to barb splice a tee into the one line and connect my fuel pressure sender. May move to AN fittings later but too much hassle.

For adjusting the WUR installed, it will probably require a mirror and a flashlight but thats a heck of a lot better than removing the intercooler for every adjustment.

RT put me out of my misery, can't wait any longer, what's the status on your WUR project?!

Haha. Needed to get the mounting plate modified a bit.

Ordered new fuel lines and vacuum lines from GermanSupply.com. Will reinstall sans fuel pressure sender and rpm solenoid. Will add those in near future (well the foreseeable) future.

RT how did this turn out in the end?
Will remove my WUR the next couple of days and thinking about doing something similar.

Worked fine. I just ordered new high pressure lines and reused all the connectors. I also got new stainless hose clamps made for that type tubing.

The wur mounting plate also worked nicely but it could be modified just a bit. I haven't done the rpm switch as I may go straight to the digiWUR.

I'll try to take some pics.

Thanks RT, great stuff.
Is that aluminium piece 4 or 5 mm thick?

Yeah, pictures would be great, thanks!
