Default Speedline copies

Who makes a good set of speedline copies? I sold my original as i'd just had them referbed and didn't get them lacquered. And the effort inivolved in keeping them looking good was too much *** ache.

The need to be a very good match to the originals I feel slightly ill putting on replicas.

Hi James.

What issues did you have with the rims? Were you driving in inclement weather? I was thinking about going non-clearcoat but the car will never see rain or salt.

Cheers.

James, if you want those RH wheels you can get them from PWS.

EDIT: Not sure what make they are.

I wonder if 'Silver Polished' is the same as the polished centers on the Speedline for Porsche wheels?

The problem with the originals is that they needed to be anodised (sp), which I didn't do thinking I could keep them clean and corrosion free. But the slightest drop of rain and you have to spend hours cleaning the buggers. So now just want some look-a-likes that will stand up to the weather in this country. I have my bbs mags anodised and they are doing fine.

So in summary RH are heavy and **** and kerscher are not an exact copy but lighter and better made?????

I have had the RH wheels for a while, and I have to agree. The RH wheels are soft as butter.

To add insult to injury, the only shop in the US that is a RH dealer, and is ment to handle repairs is GMP. GMP will not sell you RH components for repairs, they will only do the repairs themselves. They do sell a few damaged/imperfect wheels, but at like 10% off or something ridiculous like that.

BW motorsport sells a similar 3.6 wheel, but I think that they use Kinesis wheel halfs. They would probably be much stronger wheels.

The RH 3.6 wheels look beautiful, but are a pain in the ***.

Cheers,
Michael

Do you have a link to the Kinesis wheels. I'm long dollars big time so dealing with the US suits me.

Kinesis wheels are out of production I'm afraid. I would go with the Kerscher alternative or possibly Tramont (www.tramont.fr) if you like the look.

I don’t think you could say that Kinesis wheels are out of production. The company was recently purchased by another company. I think that there are problems with spare parts right now during the transition, but I have been lead to believe that this may pass.

Still, I would rather be looking for used Kinesis half’s, then have a damaged RH wheel.

JamesE, here is BW’s link.

http://bwmotorsports.com/index.html

Their web site seems to be in perpetual construction, but I did speak to one of their guys on the phone, and he was extremely helpful. Sorry, forget his name.

Cheers,
Michael
