ticking noise at warm idle???

Got my stethoscope that nathan recommended from machinemart and as i thought it isnt coming from the valve cover area!!,,,sounds loudest when i touch stethoscope on engine fan surround and can also hear it when touched to the engine support bar,cant hear it getting louder or faster with revs...
any bearings etc maybe ready to fail on alternator??
maybe will remove and check!
Also on hard accelleration the warning light comes on telling me i have a problem with my engine fan belt then it goes out although this might just be the roller sensor positioned too far away from the belt because the belt seems tight enough...will adjust that so i can rule this out!

As long as it is not the chain tensioners (they are in this area) then you might want to leave the noise for a while until it gets worse so you can easily diagnose what the exact problem is.
What you don't want to happen is have a failure that damages something else...
