ALL RIGHTY NOW,.... I went waaaaay back in the archives to find this thread!!!!
Our own beloved BadBoys Mike is at the LA Premiere RIGHT NOW,... and helping to showcase his original BadBoys1 964 Turbo. He's been sending me pics & video, so I thought I would reignite this thread, and post some of his adventures....
These are from last night on Hollywood Blvd where they were setting up the stage for Will Smith & Martin Lawrence....
Mike has a ton of stories already,... and he & the car have only been there for 24 hours!!
Mike had been sending emails to SONY Pictures over the past 6+ months, trying to get their attention, with the idea of using the car for the red carpet Premiere. He kept hearing crickets.
THEN, with ONE week before the LA Premiere, PCNA gets in touch, and had a transport truck at his place the NEXT morning!! Cross Country it goes.....
Since the car & Mike arrived, there are people flipping out over having the car there & seeing it in person for themselves. And many of the Porsche Cars North America people (who obviously didn't see it at Amelia Island a few years ago when it took 1st at Werks, or the 1st at Pinehurst before that,... or the Weissach Award at the PCA Parade in 2018 when Wolfgang Porsche signed the back of his award plaque..) ... were amazed at how perfect the car is. So happy that the car (& Mike) are getting the positive exposure and accolades that they deserve!!
He is even getting to play around with the two new 992 cars from the movie. One is the Mule car (Stunt car),... the other is the Hero car. Some of the 992 Mule car pics are showing up over on the Rennlist 992 subforum too. Mike has a cool pic of the handbrake they installed in that car too.
@Bad Boys 1 had asked me to post all those pics & stories above. Still hoping he'll eventually have some time to check in here, and fill in some more stories.
I just watched the movie yesterday. Entertaining.
But in my conversations w/ Mike, he said that when Will Smith & Martin Lawrence got to the Hollywood Blvd, they were clearly more interested in on-stage antics, signing autographs, and doing interviews for all the TMZ, Access-Hollywood shows. Typical I guess. They're probably not car guys, so they could really care less that the "REAL DEAL" actual movie car from the 1st movie was there. In contrast to PCNS, Sony, who were all very motivated to get the car there for that night. Crazy the money they spend just to make a spectacle for red-carpet prior to a premiere.
It got a thumbs up from my wifes 26 year old niece the other day. After telling her about Mike's fun at the movies she asked to watch it. It was not a bad movie but the car is always a treat to see in action.
I am sure they have seen it all and are on the clock afterall. Those bad shows bring in the customers. $68M first weekend not bad.
my wife wanted to see the original movie too after i showed her the pics in this thread.
then she asked me to go to the garage and finish my repairs to the turbo: it is spring soon, you have to get it done, NOW!
That is amazing. I will say, this movie had a way closer feel to the first than the second. And as a (huge) fan of the franchise, but more specifically the first.. thats saying something.
I only wish they would have worked something out with PCNA to get a test mule Turbo for the starring role. But beggars can't be choosers
