Not to hijack this thread; but my brand new big blacks are wearing uneven. The trailing end of the pad is wearing faster. I have put in a call into the Doc about a rebuild kit, but I am pretty upset about ruining a new set of Pagid's

Well I have found out the cause of my pad problem; thank you to all who have taken time to answer my question.

On a 928 GTS the caliper is mounted on the back of the spindle, on a 964 turbo they are mounted on the front. I have to change the bottom lines and bleed valves and in essence turn the calipers upside down as the pistons are in the wrong place.

So if you want to stay with black calipers and not go with big reds; remember to do this...

Special thanks to Geoffrey and Stephen for helping me out.

I had the same problem on my 964 3.6 turbo when I first bought her. She'd warp the front discs after a few hundred miles unheard of on Genuine Porsche discs. The problem was solved with new front brake calipers. I guess one side of the calipers had partly seized so effectively heating up just one side of the disc. I guess I could have had a go at rebuilding them but I thought to be safe just replace them.

Compare wear on the discs or the pads on both sides of the disc. It might be too early to tell yet though.

Jack the front of the car up to lift both wheels off the ground and turn the wheels to see if one side sticks more than the other.

No refund I am afraid. Quite simply I took the decision that genuine Porsche discs do not warp so it had to be a problem with the brake calipers. I could not replicate the problem or definatively prove it. There were no obvious signs as like you there was no mileage on the discs. All I can tell you is that with the new calipers fitted the problem was solved.
