Mine has 120,000 miles on it and it passes just fine.
As far as a rebuild at 83,000..... I know a number of people that are on their third rebuild at that mileage and a number of cars that are still running strong. It all depends on how you drive and maintain them.

It was a great road trip bringing the car back to CA. Glad I did that instead of shipping, I now have memories that will last a lifetime....
I've owned many P-cars. This is my first 965 and it's one very nice "road trip" car, shocked at how good the stock suspension is. Never was I left feeling tired. Kinda like a 951/968 steering response cross with a 928 GTS luxury, wrapped in a timeless "sexy hip" body.
- A random new supercharged mustang in a small town near Moab, Utah was pacing back and forth the main street waiting for me to fill my gas tank up. He had to be the 'king car' in this less than 1k population town and encountering a 965 was most likely a rare moment. You can guess what happened and yes the 965 pulled.. and "that's not stock" was the response... umm just an exhaust.. "you have a supercharger!".....good times
- California inspection stop... "got any fruit, plants or veggies," my response "no". Inspector - "my buddy here (other officer) wanted to know the top speed"... uuhh (do I tell the truth or not). Other officer - "We were talking about your car, since we saw you down the road... he's got an Mits. EVO and says it's faster.... etc".. It went straight to car talk .. LOL
- The burply engine sound, rolling through small towns in the midwest.
- Driving on some of the most beautiful dessert road that you've most likely seen only in commercials.
I ended up putting about 2500 miles on it with the detour to the Grand Cayon. I couldn't ask for better weather and the bra took most of the bugs...
In that time:
-It used about 3/4 quart of oil
-Got 20 MPG
-AC worked but has as a whining fan
-Brake pad senor light came on.. turned out to be just a ground wire that came loose.
The seller was great and also an avid P-car enthusist..
So far I love the car...
As for those that talk about rebuilds... all leakdown, compression, oil stuff. suggest I have at least 15K miles to go. Doesn't bother me cause I want to do CAMS and other performance stuff.
Midnight blue is beautiful.

Good, I am glad someone was bale to get this car. The oil usage and mileage is about what I get in my 3.3 92 turbo as well. Although mine has a bit more goodies, smile.
