Fun with an F430....

I'm not sure we're logical with the gender/sexual orientation association with boxsters, but it carries on into the market for these cars.
I tried to buy an ex Japan '93 964 TIPTRONIC with 20k miles and left the bid at USD 28k [all up price in NZ]. The broker said he could get me a '02 boxster with 5k miles [no typo] at USD 27k firm.
He couldn't understand the market dynamics and I can see why. The newer car will run rings around the older one.....but I'm not game to explain why I bought a "Porsche with panties" so I'll hang out for the 964.

I am telling you for a fact - same driver driving both cars. The 430 is MUCH faster. Now, I am not taking anything away from my Flatnose. I would never trade my Flatnose for a 430, but comparing the two speed wise is just stupid.

Wow is that a list...
I would like to disagree about the newer cars running circles around the older ones. I was at VIR last weekend and new M3's, Caymans, Boxster's, and 996 - carrera's, 4s, and twin turbo's had to let me by. Could have been the driver, instructor, or maybe my car's modifications, but that's the choice they made when they went to the dealership .
On this forum, the 964 turbo is king

By the way, I'm really surprised to hear DDavis say the 430 is MUCH faster than his turboS.
As I said before due to the turbo's power delivery, once on a roll, I can see us keeping up with most. And I've read on Rennlist previously, from track days and drag tests, that the 965 was as fast as later generation 911 turbos (even though text book times say different), it was just that more modern cars are quicker off the mark and not such a handfull to drive.
Incidentally, my car isn't quite standard. Although nowhere near as exotic as some on here, it is more responsive than standard and keeps up with my mates with 1 bar, etc. And the fact remains that the 430 guy did not leave me for dust...

I'm saying its faster. But, I also said I would NEVER trade my '94 Turbo S for a 430. So that should be obvious to ALL - which car is my favorite.

Is the 3.6 more responsive (low rpm) than the 3.3 in a real world setting, i.e. city traffic? If you have a moded 3.3 (1 bar, header, etc.) would you feel a difference between the two?

Nice collection, Don!
Does anyone on Rennlist have a 3.6t with EFI?
