Default New Wheels - Any Thoughts?

I am in the process of changing my brakes and need a set of wheels to fit the calipers. So I am thinking of using 8.5X18 et46 front and 11X18 et62 rear. Anyone using this size and offset?

Thanks

Craig

Craig,

I don't think 11's will fit under any conditions. IIRC the max size that will fit is 10.5 and offset would need to be calculated. You would also be limited on what size tires can fit. I think min size on a 10.5 is a 275 and it may create problems.

I am running 295's on the rear on the 10's and I have less than .400 clearance on either side. If you go with 11's this would stretch a 285 out even further and I am sure it would rub.

How is the engine build going?

BTW happy new year.

Happy New Year, back at ya. Engine build is moving along S L O W L Y. Pauter is taking their sweet time with the titanium rods, and the head work is already two weeks overdue. Early March it should be done.

Check out Cargraphics racing wheels and their specs.

Nothing moves at the rate it should anymore.

Word of caution. If these are ROW 1994 turbo 3.6s' they are using for the pictures they use different trailing arms than our cars and I believe should be able to fit as wide as 12" wheels. I would contact cargraphic and verify this. Very impressive wheel that they can fit 380 mm brakes in an 18" Should look hot on your car.

Good Luck

Hye Craig,

The Cargraphics look real nice.

Haven't had a chance to touch base with you regarding your "old" wheels. I will send you a PM.

Happy New Year

Jay

Happy New Year Jay.

Anthony, that is an interesting point regarding the trailing arms. I was aware the widebody NA cars (i.e. turbo look) could take a 0 offset but I did not know US/ROW turbos used different arms. I called Cargraphic and they are hot on the trail (pardon the pun).

Only the 94's used the narrow body trailing arms. Hopefully it will work out for you. Good luck

Craig Will your speedlines fit on my 993TT? I figure its the least you could do for hooking you up with one of the best 965's out there

Hi Larry,

Nope they are the wrong offset for the 993. Plus you can go 11" in the rear

Anthony is correct, 295 is the max tire for sure (I also run 295 on 10s).

Craig,

Did you find any info yet? I was reading Adrian's book and he states that the ROW 94 3.6 does indeed use strengthened Carrera RS components and redesigned turbo suspension components. The main reason being to run at the lower ride height and to allow fitment of wider rear wheels, even though they came with the same 10" speedlines

The turbos all used widebody trailing arms but the ROW '94s used the RS bushes.

I replaced mine to narrow body and also have cargraphics on there, similar to the ones they have on the site on the white RSR style car.
11.5J with 315s and about a 7 offset. Can get 12s on their if needed.

Cargrahic can sell each part individually as well for a custom setup.

Easy to replace expect that you cannot use your orignal discs, you have to use RS ones and they are slightly thinner and so you might have to change the calipers to RS ones as well OR have a spacer inside of your turbo caliper to align the disc in the middle......... OR like Geoffrey get rid of the handbrake and you can have what you like.

12" actually fits nicely on the rear with no rubbing.

Are you sure you can fit 12's? I know I tried fitting 11's on the back of my car and there was no way they would fit. I think the widest I could fit would be 10.5's in 18 inch dia. Maybe a picture of the suspension when you get a chance would help to see if there are any differences.
