Default Videoclips of my EFI with custom exhaust

The wastegate sounds like a jet engine when opened. Need to muffle it so that exhaust note isn't masked....and also cos it scares the hell out of pedestrians thinking its a low flying F18:

Driveoff

Idle & Revving

This is how my old 964 sounds with custom exhaust...that good old NA sound:

That first one sounds great when the wastegate comes in. Do NOT silence it, its awesome.
(btw strange sound in that first vid, first sound is fine, then the next two bits (same vid) sound wierd, are they repeats or are these real time after changing gear- surely not?)

Third vid sounds great. What was the NA exhaust setup?

I used a digital camera's video function which records sounds wierd when there is wide changes of volume. It seems like there is a auto volume feature that tones down loud sounds and amplifies softer sounds...with some time lag. The video sounds are real time, no repeats. What are you referring to when you say wierd?

I think it needs to be silenced a little. In real life it really does sound like a jet engine...and it's LOUD. The video doesn't quite capture the loudness

The 3rd video is of my old 964. Exhasut is custom design by me after researching 6 months on exhaust theory. Lengths, pipe sizes and joints were calculated based on 964 engine bore/stroke and expected torque curve. It has 3 different pipe sizes, long equal length headers, a cross over of the 2 banks of cylinders and straight through mufflers. The reverberation of Sepang's empty grandstand helps in making it sound like a race car. That car was loud at WOT but quiet cruising.

Both 964 & 965 custom exhaust systems are quieter than stock inside the car (incl WOT) but really loud outside at WOT. I didn't design the one on 965 but would like to one day

While we're on the topic of exhaust design, here are a couple of clips of my NSX after installing system similar in design theory to the 964 custom exhaust. All my cars end up sounding nothing like stock (In any case that classic lumpy boxer sound is due to an inefficient exhaust design causing exhaust pulses to clash)

NSX1
NSX2

My video capture skills have remained consistently bad

Beautiful car, beautiful sound! May I ask how much the EFI cost?

I did a whole bunch of other stuff which added to the cost, but if you only look at bare bones conversion (all approx, I cant remember exact cost):

1) Autronics SMC $1,350
2) Used 3.2 Carrera intake manifold, fuel rail, throttle body: $600
3) RC Engineering Injectors (used once): $450
4) Tuner $970 for 2 separate sessions on dyno and street over 3.5 days (excluding his airfare)
5) 0.9 bar spring (cheap, cant remmeber)
6) Custom plumbing and labour: quite reasonable here but will vary in different countries

However, I also added the following while I was numb to the cost and hadn't had time to add it all up yet:

1) Sach Light weight flywheel
2) Sach sports clutch assy
3) Short shifter
4) Imagineauto HFS turbo
5) Steel mesh cone filter
6) Bilstien/H&R suspension
7) BBS LM wheels
8) Engine re-build
9) SC Cams (regret not spending more time looking for a better one)
10) Modified aircon (bypass wierd logic climate comtrol)
11) Zeitronix boost, vacuum, lambda, AFR, EGT snesors and gauge
12) FVD front lip
13) MA Shaw rear wing
14) custom headers, muffler. Cat, stock muffler and wastegate muffler removed

Took a few months (in several stages, as I couldn't wait to drive) to do the above but now the project's finally completed (i think)

Thanks very much. Judging at least by the sound it was definitely worth it.
