My brake light came on my dash along with a few loud beeps...the light doesnt disappear and my brake pedal is very hard and I have no braking function......could it be the hydraulic pump or something else on a 91 c2 turbo?...

Hi marcvip
This is David from Madrid (Spain) i also have a 964 Turbo (1992).
Go to the garage inmediately!!
Few days ago i had very similar problem. Firstly I thought it could be the master brake cylinder (about 300$) but it was the worst braking problem... the ABS Hidraulic Unit. The electronics produced an over-pressure in the system and the brakes just didn't work in the middle of a slow corner
can you imagine? when i arrived to the garage, in the system I had not any braking fluid at all.
That particular part is a very expensive and rare one (ABS hidraulic unit :master brake cylinder and CPU) and as any electronic devices it is very difficult to repare.
Good luck,
D666S

Hi D666S,
you know that we have a very strict rule for new members. You MUST post pictures of your car for us all to see! :-)
And please tell us more about it, any modifications, etc?

Marc,
I have had this happen to me recently and it maybe either the brake booster or it may just be the switch on top of the booster. I would warn you though that i paid £250 to just have the switch replaced when an OPC wanted £500 but the booster if it needs changing was over £1000 for the part alone.
Best let a specialist take a look.

The beeping means you have lost all pressure in the system. First, check the plug on the ABS pump as it sometimes comes loose. The pump is on the very front of the car, and the plug is on the top of the pump. Next, turn the key on (don't start the car) and listen for the pump. It is pretty loud and very obvious. If the pump is not running, then it is probably the relay that Steve mentioned. If the pump does run, it should turn off by itself after 5-30 seconds. If it doesn't it is either the pump or the pressure accumulator. If it does turn off, you have a leak somewhere, which will be harder to find.
