Boeing 717

Guys i believe my alternator is bad or at least a bearing in it, as some of you know, it just whines along with engine rpm's. My mechanic is 38 miles away would it be a big deal to drive it up there??? I really dont want to spend for a flat bed tow truck, If the alternator crapped out how big a deal would that be???

jerry, turn off any current drawing accessories ie. lights, radio, ac etc, keep your foot off the brakes. tjn/vk
