Default Boost display alternative..

Who here has fitted an aftermarket boost guage?

I have seen some threads where people have fitted EBC and use the digital readout to monitor boost. But has anyone out there fitted an normal round boost dial guage?

If so, where did you fit it? Any photos?

Also... where did you run the plumbing/pipework to get it the boost signal from the engine bay to the cockpit/dashboard??

Do you tap into the boost line running to the ignition computer? (I take it thats under the front seat where a NA 911 has a DME????)

I just don't want to look down that low to see my boost! I have my AVC-R located there in a carbon fiber panel: it has a built-in boost gauge.

Not a great pic of the gauge, but you get the idea. Simple to plumb through the dash, under the console and back to the engine bay. You can run it under the carpet, or out through the tunnel to get to the rear.

Bob,

What did you do with the original clock that was there, just leave it inside the dash connected?

Thanks,

Sonny

Yes Sonny, I wrapped it in some cloth with some tie wraps and left it behind the Speedometer. If you remove the clock, all the rest of warning lights and such get triggered.

If you remove the plastic cover for the handbrake you will find a round hole (kept close with a rubber seal in both ends) just behind the handbrake lever. I run all the electrical and boost wires/pipes through this hole.

That is a good place to run it Steffan. If you can snake it under the carpet, you will also find a rubber plug right at the floor base and just behind the rear deck with is also a good spot to run the lines..
