Default 19" on a Turbo or Turbolook?

Has anyone tried 19" wheels on a turbo? I am running 295/30/18x11 on my America Roadster with no problem. Just wondering if anyone has tried with success. I was looking at the stock wheels on the Boxster and 997.

Check out the 964 thread about safety of 18 inch wheels on NA 964 narrow bodies. i asked the question and got numerous feedback. Lots of debate about the use of anything more than factory specified wheels. few models were specified by Porsche with 18 inch wheels as stated in Adrian's book. The issue is with the possible stress on the rear suspension.

I read those threads and came to the conclusion that Porsche did not recommend 18" for precautionary reasons. Its seems at least 20% of all 964 owners have 18" wheels. I have 18" for 4 hard years driving years without one problem and have yet to read any problems of anyone else. If there were problem it was more clearance issue, wrong offsets, or wrong wheel. Just wanted to know has anyone run 19" without clearance issues. What size, width, and tire size?

I think you can get away with the same width & offset on the 19's but you may have some scraping in the front wheels. I have 19's and had some scrap on full lock but with some wheel swapping about the offset came out a few mm's and the scraping stopped- so its a close one. People use 19's on 964's maybe not for track but for street I would think is ok.

Does the America Roadster not have the Turbo suspension on it? If so having 18" wheels on your car would not have the same problems as a normal 964. I can't say what would change when adding 19" wheels but it might be worth trying to get in touch with Sportec in Switzerland as they have a set of 19" wheels for a 964 and have done some research into the effects they on the car.
